Perhaps it is one of the flattest and most densly populated countries on earth. Perhaps in no other country on this world, so much land has been reclaimed as in The Netherlands, Probably no other country has so much land below sea level, that a breaking of the dikes would flush away half of the country instantly. And finally, few countries have a nation which is as liberal, laid back and relaxed as the Dutch. Welcome to the Netherlands.

If you are traveling to the Netherlands, you will get to know a country which is unique in all its facets. As unique as the country and its culture, is its language. Dutch is spoken by approximately 25 million people worldwide, of which 16 million people in the Netherlands. Dutch is usually recognised via its 'hard g' pronunciation and its dipthongs, which identify foreign speakers immediately. Nevertheless, the Dutch appreciate it when travellers make an attempt to speak their language, even if it is a simple 'hello' or 'thank you'.
